ESB Club Year 5
Gymnastics Club Years 3-4
Following on from their ESB exams in Year 4, pupils are able to complete their Stage 3 ESB exam (externally assessed by the English Speaking Board) by taking part in ESB Club in Year 5. Pupils new to the school are also very welcome. The lunchtime club is a fun and lively session designed to promote and assess spoken English. Pupils learn and recite a poem, read from a chosen book and prepare a 2-3 minute talk on a chosen topic. Parental support outside of the club will be required to enable the children to fully prepare and mini tasks will be set for them to complete each week. Past pupils have thoroughly enjoyed sharing their talks with pupils throughout the school and the examiners always ensure the exam day itself is a positive and enjoyable experience. Please note, there is an additional charge of approximately £45 to cover the examination costs.
Gymnastics club aims to improve the children’s flexibility and strength and to give them an opportunity to try out more complex and more challenging moves with support. There will be opportunities to use all the equipment as well as vaulting and trampette sessions to improve tumbling and acrobatic elements. The children will also create routines using the skills they have learnt in small groups and will have the opportunity to perform them to music.
