Sewing Club Years 5-6

Sewing Club is an opportunity for pupils to relax, have fun and be creative with a needle and thread, whatever their ability. Favourite items made are book marks, coasters, soft toys, cushions and samplers but anything goes – just bring along your idea and we will help you make it.

Percussion Ensemble is open to pupils in Upper Years who have percussion/drum kit lessons either in or outside school. It is a great opportunity to discover the joy of music making with others. We have a wide selection of percussion instruments both tuned and untuned for the children to play, developing their musicianship skills and musical awareness. The sessions are led by our percussion and drum kit teacher and the children will have performing opportunities throughout the year including performing in the Christmas Concert and Summer Concerts.

Reading Rocks is a fun book club where children are able to share, discuss and recommend books with others in a relaxed setting. We will explore a range of books around a range of themes/genres, enabling the children to discover new books or authors and make links between different texts. We will also be taking part in the Awesome Book Awards where the children will read the whole shortlist of five books and vote for their favourite overall.

Senior Choir is open to all children in Years 5 and 6 who enjoy singing and also wish to develop their voices. Children learn to sing in two and three parts and are encouraged to sing solos or small groups to gain confidence in performing in public. Senior Choir meets every Friday during the lunchtime break and works hard to prepare for key events during the year, including the Carol Service held at St George’s College and the annual Summer Concert. The repertoire chosen will be from a wide range of genres including musical theatre, popular music, folk music and light classical.

Street Dance (Girls & Boys) Years 3-6

A vibrant and fun activity. Pupils will enjoy a fast, energetic warm-up followed by a routine performed to the latest dance music and up to date dance moves. Dance trainers are an optional purchase for this activity.
