The WPRA sends condolences to Jolee Lautaret Jordan and the Lautaret family on the recent passing of Dolli. Dolli lost her battle with cancer on Tuesday, December 20, 2022, at Sunrise Hospital in Las Vegas, Nevada. Dolli and Jolee have been a WPRA staple for years with Dolli joining the Association in 1978. Dolli competed in barrel racing as well as roping, winning the WPRA Team Roping heeling world title in 2007. Dolli became interested
in rodeo through her husband, Darrell. In March of this year, they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. Dolli was born Nov. 24, 1950 in Middlesboro, Kentucky, and later graduated high school in Colorado Springs, Colorado, as her father, Joe Bosworth was an Air Force pilot. Darrell and Dolli’s daughter, Jolee was born in Colorado Springs but later the family moved to Kingman, Arizona, where they have resided for numerous years. The family is planning a celebration of life sometime after the first of the year. We will post more details on that as they become available. ProRodeo Hall of Fame Nominations 2023
Outstanding Barrel & Rope Horse Awards Presented at WPRA World Finals
For the second straight year, Professional’s Choice was the presenting partner of the WPRA World Finals Outstanding Barrel & Rope Horse Awards. Athletes competing at the World Finals had the opportunity to vote on the horse they felt deserved recognition for their performance at the 2022 WPRA World Finals. Those votes combined with the onsite judges determined the outstanding barrel horse and outstanding rope horse for this year’s event. Winning on the barrel racing side was Cayla Small’s horse Frisky Ta Fame and on the roping side was Tanegai Zilverberg’s horse Mister Might Spark “Barley” taking top honors. Congrats to both these ladies and their horses and thanks to Professional’s Choice for this recognition.
The WPRA is now accepting nominations for induction into the ProRodeo Hall of Fame. Nominations for 2023 need to be submitted by Feb. 15, 2023. To nominate a barrel racer, they must be retired from rodeo and have won at least one world championship. In addition, individuals can be nominated in the notable category, who are not otherwise eligible in the barrel racing category, as well as barrel horses.
