Hobbies Paul Kay's Journey through Art
Paul Kay has worked here at Eagle Rock since 1998. He assists the maintenance team with their responsibilities here at the plant. Since childhood, Paul Kay has had a passion for drawing. He started drawing Disney and animated characters, but it wasn't until he drew posters for Bible School and Camp that he realized the joy his art brought to others. Without any formal training, Paul continued to refine his craft by drawing daily and developing his skills. His artwork has grown to include painting, which he took up recently due to the encouragement from his sister, Wanda. While Paul has never sold any of his paintings, he dreams of sharing his art with the world by reproducing these cheerful pictures and distributing it widely. Paul's inspiration for his lighthouse drawing came from his faith and childhood memories. He was reminded of Jesus as the Lighthouse during church services, and he added the river to represent the living water. He also drew on memories of summers spent on the river with his family, which motivated him to include water in his artwork. Each painting on Paul's art wall took 8-12 hours to complete, and he often watched videos to learn new techniques and improve his skills. Paul's art is a source of joy and happiness for him and for those who receive it. He enjoys creating and coloring drawings to give to kids at church camp and seeing their excitement when they share them with others. With his talent and passion for art, Paul hopes to continue sharing his creations with the world. His artwork represents the joy he feels inside and wants every painting to be representing happiness that is from his heart.
