would have lost money for the‘company. Contrary to his expectations, instead of being cominended for his shrewdness, he was promptly discharged. Next time he disobeyed he might have lost heavily. So with us in life. God does not demand of us success, nor profit, but obedience. It is for us to keep His commandments. — 1,000 Tales Worth Telling, by H. Pickering. , Stories of Jesus M a t t h e w 13:54 t o 16:12 MEMORY VERSE: “Now when the sun was setting, all they that had any sick with divers diseases brought them unto him; and he laid his hands on every one of them, and healed them” (Lk. 4:40). APPROACH: Last week we talked

be among the first to believe that He was indeed the Son of God. But this was not what happened. They knew the truth, but they just wouldn’t be lieve that He got His power from God. They said something like this: “Don’t we know His father and mother and brothers arid sisters? Aren’t they all just one of us? How does He do all of these things?” And they didn’t like the-idea at all. We read about Jesus’ greatness today in our Bibles. Do we believe, or are we like the neighbors in Nazareth?

OBJECTS: Three sheets of black paper about 8%xll inches in size, and three sheets of white paper the same size. LESSON: This piece of black paper reminds me of an unsaved person. (Hold the three pieces together allowing only the front one to show.) The paper is black, which suggests sin. In order that the paper may seem more like a person, I am going to fold and tear it. (Fold the top down to the bottom. Begin where the top and bot tom come together and tear a capital "T.” When unfolded it will be a capi tal “I.”) Now we have a big black “I.” Back of this "I” are two others just like it. If your life is sinful, others will pattern their lives like it. This sheet of white paper reminds me of a Christian. (Allow only the front pheet to show.) It is clean and white, -like those whose sins have been cleansed by Christ’s blood. (Fold sideways, and tear out half of a cross. When open, it will be a full cross.) This paper now reminds us of Christ. Not only is it clean and white, but it is in the shape of a cross. It is Christ’s desire that Christians remind others of Him. He said, “Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I com mand you” (John 15:14). You can eas ily see that the clean white page sug gests those who are the friends of Christ. Again, I want you to see that back of this page are two other pages, shaped just like it. If you are a real Christian, revealing Christ to others, there will be some who will pattern their lives like, yours, and they, too, will come to the Lord Jesus Christ who died on the cross for their sins.

slow the people were to believe. LESSON STORY: Jesus’ home was in the little town of Nazaréth. Here He had lived as a child, and here He grew up. After He began His work of telling the people who He was and the mes sage that He had from God, He trav eled about from place to place, but often He came back and visited in Nazareth. You remember what crowds of peo ple all over the country followed Jesus, and you rimember what wonderful mir acles He did, how He healed the sick and fed the hungry. The people in Naz areth knew all about this. You would suppose, wouldn’t you, that they would

HE L P NE EDED ! For Russian and Polish Christians in War-Torn Europe! The present European war has placed a heavy burden on Relief Work. Thousands of Christian families are in dire distress. Many have been muti lated, their homes destroyed, husbands and wives separated from their chil dren. Soul stirring letters from wretched Russian and Polish Christians pour into our office daily. We need $100,000 immediately to meet a small fraction of the need for these war stricken Christians. We appeal to all God’s children in North America to .help with generous gifts for clothing, shelter, food and comfort for your Christian brothers and sisters in these last days before the second coming of our Blessed Lord.
