Echoes From the North HE Biola Challenge was carried last week to thè friends in Northern California, Oregon, and Washington. Enthusiastic meetings were held in Oakland, San Francisco, Portland, Tacoma, and Seattle. In each place Dr. White, Presi­ dent of the Institute, answered the questions, Why a Bible Institute? and, Why a Bible Institute in Los Angeles ? He rehearsed some of the achievements of Bio- la in its twenty-five years of ministry! He told of the

The recital awakened a new lively interest in the school among these neighbors in the west. In each place visited, the spir­ it of the Challenge was caught and volunteers came forward ask­ ing that they might have a part in presenting the claims of Biola to their friends and neighbors. In Oakland and Berkeley sixteen challengers were enlisted; in San Francisco, twelve; in Portland, twenty; in Tacoma, eight; in Seattle, twenty. The property of the Institute has a frontage of 240 feet on Hope Street, near Sixth Street, adjoining the Los Angeles Public Library, one of the finest libraries in the country. It is in the heart of the downtown business dis­ trict of the city, the centre of an area having a population at present of two and a half million and growing faster than any other section of our land. The building— really three buildings in one—has in the centre a famous large auditorium, smaller lecture rooms, library, social halls, radio broadcasting rooms, etc. On cither side are the Men’s Dormitory and Women’s Dormitory, with 300 rooms each.
