Area colleges include the University of Minnesota-Rochester, which is part of the University of Minnesota system and focuses primarily on health sciences; Rochester Community and Technical College, Minnesota’s oldest original community college, which has 70 programs and recently established various programs that provide students the opportunity to complete a four- year degree without leaving Rochester; Saint Mary’s University, a Catholic university with a Rochester campus that provides bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral programs in a variety of disciplines; and Winona State University, a diverse academic institution with over 200 programs to suit the needs of this growing university.
