and the larger North American corrugated industry—and for the first time many learned about the family-owned company founded in 1962 that has since evolved from be- ing a distributor of paper bags, foil liners, and tissue paper into a full-service packaging partner that collaborates with companies seeking to enhance their branding, increase production efficiency, reduce costs, and/or automate their packaging processes.
Precision Anilox & Glue Roll Technology
With the addition of its new high graphics corrugated manufacturing division I described in the article, bolstered by a multi-million dollar investment in machinery never before seen on a production floor in North America, Mor- risette Packaging now has the ability to design stunning graphics, create innovative structures, automate process- es, and manufacture digital or flexo printing, gluing, cut- ting, and delivery, all in-house from its Greensboro facility, better and faster than the company’s ever done it before. After introductions and a “briefing” in a third floor con- ference room—espresso and sfogliatella were abundant— our group of about 12 stepped down to a spacious, pris- tine production floor to see the machine that, once tested and “approved,” would be disassembled and shipped to Greensboro, where it would become the first ChromaCUT High Tech RDC to be installed in North America. There it would join the waiting members of Morrisette’s new machine family: a second Koenig & Bauer machine, the versatile Omega Magnus 230 Folder Gluer, also the first ever to be installed in North America; a single-pass Xeikon Idera Digital Printer; an Elitron Digital Die Cutter; a Brausse Eterna Flat Bed Die Cutter; an ACS autonomous conveyance system; and automation centers controlled by Amtech Software, all of which gives Morrisette Packaging the potential of becoming one of North America’s premier corrugated manufacturing facilities. A Successful Start-Up With the palpable anticipation of a NASA spaceship launch and receiving an “all systems go,” the ChromaCUT Brian Propst of Impact Imaging Group discusses a test sheet with Koenig & Bauer|Celmacch technicians. At far right is Kev- in Erbe, National Sales Manager at Koenig & Bauer|Celmacch, and to his right is John Morrisette, President of Morrisette Packaging.
