we must begin to approach our solutions from the ground up.
We recommend: •Asking your people: Running surveys or focus groups which unpickwhat reward and recognition looks like to them • Creating a tiered system: Creating different levels of reward with elements of choice in each tier with lower values
• Revaluating what the reward looks like: Exploring new options beyond traditional reward solutions that are appropriate in the current climate Redefining incentives With traditional means of rewarding the team off the table, we need to start thinking about new ways in which our reward programmes culminate. Overseas travel has become challenging, but we’ve also lost our ability to hold face to face recognition events, where gala dinners and bespoke experiences cannot be shared by our teams. In this, the move towards virtual and digital interactions has provided us with some useful substitutes. Most professionals are now familiar with the bespoke experiences provided by influencers and thought leaders, virtual escape rooms, cook alongs and virtual reality gigs, but our new circumstances have provided us with the opportunity to rip up the rulebook and be truly innovative. The power of platform We would highly recommend exploring a platform driven solution, which could incorporate: • A bespoke platform designed solely
for your business use • An off-the-shelf solution aimed at reward and recognition • Alternatively intranet or internal social platforms whose features can easily be turned towards reward programmes Incorporating gamification and content led approaches here will be paramount for the future. After we have realigned our strategic priorities via data and offering, we can start to effectively create branded channels and consistently recognisable reward and recognition identities that sit in platform and are recognisable to our audiences, be that in the office at home or viewing on mobile operating systems. These types of ecosystems are largely expected in all other types of internal and external communications so quick adoption here will safeguard programme viability for years to come.
