“I proudly retired from the U.S. Coast Guard in January 2017 after 23 years of dedicated service. Throughout my career, I was fortunate to serve my country in various roles. My journey began at Terminal Island, where I participated in joint operations in Seoul. From there, I was stationed in Honolulu, aboard the Coast Guard Cutter Rush. This gave me the unique opportunity to travel to Alaska, Guam, Panama, and Western Samoa, and even an unforgettable swim in the Mariana Trench. During our operations in Panama, I served as the translator for the Cutter, ensuring clear communication during critical missions. Later in my career, while stationed with the Pacific Strike Team, I was deployed to support the response to the Deepwater Horizon oil spill. I contributed to recovery efforts in the Gulf of Mexico, working alongside others to mitigate the impact of one of the largest environmental disasters in U.S. history. Looking back, I am grateful for the experiences and camaraderie I found in the Coast Guard. It was an honor to protect and serve, and I will always cherish my time in uniform.”
