Rockland students send valentines to veterans
Correction and update Last week’s article, ‘A little help from friends for Dylan White’ contained an error. After his accident, DylanWhite was taken first to Ottawa Civic Hospital, not St. Vincent’s as stated in the article. At Ottawa Civic he spent fivemonths under- going treatment in the Intensive Care and Trauma units before he was transferred to the general population ward to continue his recovery for his injuries. He is now at St. Vincent’s as a temporary stage before his later transfer to the Hamilton Health Science Centre and its special therapy program for assisting people with brain injuries. He has some limited left side mobility now and is working on right side mobility as well as his speech therapy. His parents have been at his side during his recovery on a constant basis.
They spent their classroomhours and also a bit of their own free timemaking up valentines like this one (see at right) and composing letters of thanks, to send off to Canada’s veterans who are undergoing rehabilitation for their injuries while serving overseas.
