A Weekend to Remember: A Phi Chapter Reunion

This past October, four Phi Chapter-Oklahoma sisters from the 1984 new member class took a nostalgic road trip back to their college stomping grounds. Kim Hentges, Vicki Boucher Simunek, Lori Askins Walker and Stacey Hays Scott , all Phi Chapter initiates, were excited to reconnect with their collegiate roots. When they returned to Norman, Oklahoma, they invited other Phi Chapter alumnae to join in a reunion celebration weekend. The festivities kicked off on Friday with a stroll through Campus Corner, exploring its shops and restaurants before settling in for dinner at an Irish pub. Saturday was gameday, and the sisters showed their school spirit as they cheered on the Oklahoma Sooners football team in a win over South Carolina. After the game and lunch, members toured Phi Chapter’s house, revisiting the spaces where some of their earliest Alpha Phi memories were formed. From catching up with old friends to meeting new ones, the reunion was a hit for all involved. Kim Hentges shared, “Numerous participants noted how much they valued the opportunity to renew old connections, highlighting that rekindling relationships is meaningful no matter how much time has passed.”

This is 40 Turning 40 is significant. It marks the transition into midlife, a season often defined by increased confidence, clarity about what you want and, perhaps more importantly, what you don’t. It brings wisdom and a renewed sense of possibility, making it no wonder so many say that life truly begins at 40. To usher in this new decade, seven Beta-Northwestern sisters from the 2008 new member class traveled to Mexico in February to ring in their 40th birthdays

recounting old memories while forming new ones — sitting beachside, raising a glass to the decades ahead. One of the members, Maureen Rohn Goldman , created Alpha Phi-themed birthday hats in Bordeaux, adorned with silver lettering featuring each sister’s birth year. “The hats become conversation starters at the resort,” Alexandra Apatoff Besen laughs.
