Superintendent of th e Bible In stitu te of Los Angeles. The severance of th is tie caused very g reat sorrow to th e Board of Directors of th e Association a t R iverside, for to Mr. H ale’s sterling sp iritu ality and business qualifications R iverside owes its splendid Y. M. C. A. building and its high sp iritu al standing among the Associations of the country. Mr. H ale is a rem arkable soul-win ner and th roughou t his whole career has been noted for his definite, practi cal, Christian work. Many of the soldiers and aviators in th e vicinity of R iverside have been brought to Christ through his efforts. The R iverside Daily Press, comment ing upon his resignation, says: “R iv e rsid e lo se s a u se fu l c itiz e n in th e re s ig n a tio n o f W . R. Commencing w ith the 5th of July a Women’s Bible Conference will be held, with morning sessions every day in the week except Saturday and Sunday. This will be under the direction of Mrs. Ly man Stewart, Superintendent of Bible Women. The messages will be given by Bible women and will consist of ex positions of Scripture, suggestions for teaching, personal work, etc. The Wo men’s Bible Conference which was held last summer w ith a sim ilar program, was very largely attended. Sessions will also be held during the afternoons and evenings of July, the last two weeks being devoted to a Min isterial Conference for the benefit of young m inisters and others. This Bible conference will also continue for the first two weeks of August. This is merely a preliminary announ cement. Fuller details will be given in the July King’s Business which will reach our readers the first of June. Dr. Torrey leaves in June for China in response to a very definite appeal. He will be in China three months under the auspices of the Milton Stew art Fund. He will deliver addresses a t the differ ent Bible conferences now being arranged for by Mr. H arry Blackstone. Dr. Torrey will also visit the Hunan Bible Institute at Changsha, under the direction of Dr. Frank Keller and attend the autumn Bible' conference a t Nanyoh. This con ference. has been conducted every year with very blessed results. Dr. Torrey will be joined by Prof. M. G. Kyle of Xenia, Ohio, who is now in Egypt. The earn est prayers of the Lord’s people everywhere are desired for this service in China. The inroads of higher crit icism among the schools and mission aries there call for this special Bible work. Notable Addition to In stitu te Fam ily. Mr. W. R. Hale, for fifteen years th e General Secretary of th e Y. M. C. A. a t R iverside, California, has resigned his position to become the A ssistant
