John Anderson left his impress on every individual th a t he met, first among his fellow students in college and medical school, and in broader contacts with students of Kentucky and th e Caro- linas where he w as'in strum en tal either in organizing or in reviving S tate Student Volunteer Unions, then in th e hospital where he served as interne, and finally as a medical missionary in China. With physical life snuffed out through acci dental drowning, it is to be hoped th at John .Anderson will continue to impress student and other lives for many years to come through this fine and effective though brief biography th a t has been pre pared by Mr. Gordon Poteat, his longtime student friend. (Price $1.50.) TH E SECOND COMING OF CHR IST AND LAST TH INGS Rev. J. L. Dickens, president of tfe* Houston Bible Institute, Houston, Texas, has ju st brought forth a new book in sup port of the premillennial belief. God’s dis- pensational dealings are carefully out lined and prophecies of the close of the age are compared with the signs of the times. (Paper, $1.00; Cloth $1.50.) FULL BLOWN BABYLON A FALSE gospel makes a FALSE Christian, and FALSE Christians make FALSE churches, and FALSE churches make up th e FALSE Bride of Christ, viz., “Babylon the Great” (Rev. 17). On the other hand, a TRUE gospel makes a TRUE Christian, and TRUE Christians make TRUE churches of Christ, and TRUE churches of Christ make up the TRUE Bride of Christ, viz., “the new and holy Jerusalem” (Rev. '21:2, 10; also Rev. 3:12). Manifestly then “CHURCH ES of God” must be made of “MEN of GOD,” and men of God must be made by “the GOSPEL of GOD,” and the gospel of God must forever be “CONCERNING” the “CHRIST of GOD.” (See Luke 9:20; Rom. 1:3.) By tliis crucial, acid test, where do the modern churches of the great denomina tions stand today? The fact is, “Great Babylon” is already in our very midst, though not yet “full-blown,” and com
prises the great bulk of th e P rotestant churches. And, oh, how much we truly need Christ’s special “eye-salve” to de tect this—(Laodicea). Yea, more than this, we have need of an “EAR-openen,” as well as an “EYE-opener,” and also some of the fidelity of the saints of old, to HEAR and to HEED Christ’s com mand and appeal, “Come out of her, My people, th at ye be not PARTAKERS of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues” (Rev. 18:4). Any church, or church system, th a t maintains a worldly policy, or supports worldly interests or politics, or accepts worldly means for its support, or th at harbors worldly “ene mies of the c r o ss of Christ” in its fel lowship, should be ABANDONED straightw ay; for to be a PARTNER with such an organization, makes ■one to becomfe a PARTAKER of its sins, and, necessarily, of its judgment also.—- Dr, Geo. B. Edwards. ' ■■ - sgk IS SALVATION SAFE? Two brethren who differed on the ques tion of the believer’s safety in Christ: were discussing the question, and one said to the other: "I tell you, a child of God is safe only so long as he stays in the lifeboat. He may jump out, and if he jumps out he is lost,” To this the other replied, saying: “You remind me of an incident in my own life. I took my little son out with me in a boat. I realized, as he did not, the danger of his falling, or even jump ing, into the water. So I sat with him all the time, and all the time I held him fast, so he could neither fall out, nor jump out, of the boat.” “But,” said the first speaker, “he could have wriggled out of his coat and got away in spite of you,” “Oh,” said the other, “you misunder stood me if you supposed I was holding his eoat; I was not holding his coat; I was holding him.”
