Better leave hell alone, boys. We don’t know exactly what sort of a place hell is. We hope we may never know. But what ever it is, it has entirely to a much fire connected with it for children to play with it. Take my advice. ' Leave this subject alone for some ten or fifteen years anyway. God hasn’t called you to preach to un godly, impenitent, hell-deserving sinners th a t hell isn’t such a bad place after all, —th a t it won’t last but a few minutes. And multiplied thousands of th e wisest and most spiritual of all ages are against you in your interpretation of a few pas sages to try to prove this. Quit it. Rus- sellism is entirely too cheap and con temptible a thing to receive in exchange for the doctrine of our Lord as expressed in H is inspired word. Be careful, boys, be careful. —W. H. Crouse. THE SLUGGARD’S VISITOR. He came to my door w ith a sharp, quick rap, When th e day was young and fair; I was snuggled in bed in a good sound nap, So I yawned and said, “Who’s there?” “Get up! Get u p !” piped a clear, strong voice, “Come travel along w ith me; I'll show you the jpy th a t’s in rejoice— I ’m OPPORTUNITY.” “Come in ,” I yelled, “ to my humble room, I’ll soon be ready to rise— I know you can scatter th e doubt and gloom And brighten th e dullest skies." I waited long, b u t he entered not, He had packed his grip and fled, ' W ith the bold rem ark, “T h at chap can rot, ’E re I pull him out of bed.” From far away came ano ther knock, Much fain ter th an ’twas before; And I knew he had gone to another block To knock a t a neighbor’s door.

Be Careful Boys

—Be Careful

HERE are certain doctrines which Christian people of all ages have looked upon as funda mental. The g reatest ihinds of the Christian church, many of whom were m asters of Greek and Hebrew, after careful and

prayerful study of the word, agreed upon these fundamentals. These have been in corporated in the articles of faith of all our churches. One of these doctrines is the everlast ing punishment of the wicked. Some of our boy preachers are making bold to declare th a t Bible students have all been wrong on this subject; th a t we, who still believe th at doctrine, are igno ran t of the teaching of the Bible on this subject; th a t this doctrine grew out. of Paganism and is a relic of the dark ages. Now I do not claim to know it all by any means, but I would advise our boys to go slow. Better preach Jesus and Him crucified to the comfort and consolation of th e Lord’s little ones and not begin by presuming to have more knowledge of these doctrines than all the “fathers” and to undertake to revolutionize the thought of th e church. We have seen others try this, on other lines, and it didn’t end as they had ex pected. “Little boats should keep near shore.” After years of study of the Word of God itself you might be able to turn the church from doctrines ever be lieved, but not yet. We know where this new doctrine of hell originated. It has been called by many names and put forth in a new dress every now and then. Russell put enough good doctrine with it to make it sound a little like the “voice of Jacob,” but it is still the “hand of Esau.”
