Die Superstars unter den nachhaltigen Materialien sind immer die- jenigen, die aus möglichst viel nachwachsenden Rohstoffen zusam- mengesetzt sind. Pflanzenfasern stehen hier an erster Stelle. Nur leider ist das meiste Biomaterial nicht sehr witterungsbeständig. FUREMA besteht zu über 60% aus hochfein gemahlenen Reishül- sen in einem aufwändigen Prozess verbunden mit Steinsalz und Mineralöl. Reis wächst in den meisten Ländern vor der Haustüre und Reishülsen gelten bis heute als unverwertbares Abfallprodukt der Lebensmittelherstellung. Das Ergebnis ist so robust wie schön, trotzt sowohl Wasser als auch Salzwasser, ist frostbeständig, reißt und splittert nicht.

The superstars among sustainable materials are those that are composed of as many renewable raw materials as possible. Second to none are plant fibers. Unfortunately, most biological material is not very weather resistant. FUREMA consists of more than 60% of very finely ground rice husks combined with rock salt and mineral oil in a complex process. Rice grows on the doorstep of most count- ries and rice husks are still considered an unusable waste product of food production. The result is as strong as it is beautiful, with- stands water and saltwater, is frost-resistant, and will not crack or splinter.
