There may be several fire marshals/wardens deployed within the premises, depending on the size, complex and activities being carried out. In the UK, it is worth pointing out there is little or no difference between a marshal and a warden (only the name) and they usually carry out the same duties. Other countries may have either or both. If both are appointed there must be clarity on the role that each is to perform. E5.4 Summary In this section we have covered: Appropriate training requirements • Requirement to provide fire safety training information for workers, temporary agency workers and volunteers • The need to provide training in the use of firefighting equipment • The selection of fire marshals/wardens and specific training for workers with management/supervisory roles and their role in the event of an emergency.
