for office type of work will probably have a lower level of protection than premises which are used for industrial manufacturing. External walls should be able to give sufficient protection of the escape routes at the boundaries during the early stages of a fire. As we have previously mentioned to protect from external fire spread, the structure must be able to withstand the effects of a fire, the resistance being a minimum of 30 minutes and often 60 minutes. This will depend on the distance from the building or from the property boundary line.
