• Monthly: Test any automatically started generator used for the fire detection and fire alarm system, as well as inspect any vented batteries used as a standby power supply for the fire detection and fire alarm system. • Biannually: Visual inspections of all equipment to ensure it is all accessible and still appropriate for the area. This needs to be undertaken at least every 6 months. • Annually: During a 12-month period all manual call points and detectors should have been tested as well as two inspections completed. The fire alarm system must be tested on standby power to ensure that the battery is working properly. All aspects of the system should be tested such as controls, and detector alignment. Note: All inspections and servicing of fire alarm systems should only be undertaken by organisations or persons with the appropriate competence .
