Isolations The plan should mention any actions that will be required to help in safeguarding the situation. Certain pieces of equipment or hazardous processes may require isolation. These should be identified and have arrangements in place. Some processes may require staff being responsible for their workstation being switched off and hot work equipment being turned off, such as equipment in kitchens, science labs and other workplaces. Specific arrangements may be required for any high-risk areas such as boiler rooms, chemical storage areas, gas storage, generators, and some work processes. Fire Alarm Activities A 'Responsible Person' should nominate a suitable person to do a weekly test of the building's fire alarm system. Records of the testing and any defects and faults should be recorded. A competent person should only carry out all repairs and maintenance. All staff and visitors should be aware that such alarm tests are being carried out. False alarms should be investigated, and the root cause will need to be established so preventive actions can be put in place. Evacuation Procedures Everyone should know how to evacuate the building after the alarm has activated. All occupants should understand the evacuation procedure, to enable them to evacuate in a quick and safe manner. They should know which route to take, how the evacuation will be carried out (simultaneous or phased) and where the assembly point is located. Additional arrangements will have to be put in place for vulnerable people.

Assembly Points All occupants must know the location and description of all designated assembly points. The assembly point will help to establish if everyone is accounted for and if anyone is missing.
