The first Maj Lind Piano Competition was held in 1945 and was organized as a national competition until the year 1997. Since 2002 the competition has been open for international competitors. Today, the international competition is organized every five years. Approximately 35 competitors will be accepted to the 6th Helsinki International Maj Lind Piano Competition in 2027. The first and second round repertoires include a wide range of solo piano works including a new commissioned work from a Finnish composer or an improvisation on a given theme. The final stage includes both a chamber music work and a piano concerto.
