In 2025, the International Vocal Competition ‘s-Hertogenbosch (IVC) will introduce a new competition called “Theatre in Song.” This innovative format transforms the traditional Lied Duo Competition to make classical song more accessible to modern audiences. While rooted in classical composers like Schubert and Fauré, the competition encourages creativity, incorporating interdisciplinary elements such as theatre, dance, and visual art. Artists can perform with various instruments and explore diverse themes, including social issues. The goal is to develop a 40- to 45-minute musical- theatrical production, with successful participants gaining international professional engagements. Each edition will focus on a specific theme.
