TVCS Newsletter 2022 Term 3 Week 8

SENIOR SCHOOL

Our Year 12s were recently visited by a member of mteSA. The mteSA raises awareness of potential apprenticeship and traineeship pathways open to students. The students enjoyed watching inpsiring occupational videos that told stories of successful Australian Apprenticeships. They received extremely relevant tips and resources which they will use for navigating their career direction. By learning how diverse the workplace is and listeniong to the stories and experiences of Australian apprentices, students gained an understanding of just how valuable their unique talents and gifts are! Proverbs 16:3 Commit your work to the Lord, and your plans will be established. Career advice and mentorship vital in final year of school

RACI’s Titration Competition success encourages Chemistry students The RACI’s Titration Competition is designed to encourage secondary students who enjoy Chemistry, particularly its practical side, to develop their scientific skills and understanding. It provides students an opportunity to experience conducting an experiment in a laboratory environment at a local university in their state and the chance to compete at a national level. The annual RACI Titration Competition was held again this year and all of the TVCS year 11 and 12 Chemistry students were entered. The first round was held in our school laboratory in term 2 and the results sent to the competition organisers. The best individual results from the first round were Nathan (0.01% error) and Max (0.03%). On September 10 the National Final was held at the Hetzel Laboratories in the city and this time TVCS had one team whose State Final result was sufficient to earn them a place to continue. Well done to Gabriel (0.05%), Nathan (0.38%), and Josh F (0.89%) for their effort on the day. Each member earned a gold medallion and the team overall earned an Excellent Result (both being the highest accolade available in the competition). The final ranked results will be released later in the year. Well done to all the year 11 and 12 Chemistry students for taking part again this year.
