AURIE’S STAR (Stardrift (GB) - Aurie Anton) The brilliant Aurie’s Star won the Oakleigh Plate-Newmarket double in 1937, and in 1939 he won the Oakleigh Plate again. Then, in September 1940, carrying 10 st 2lb (64kg) down the Flemington straight, Aurie’s Star created a record time for six furlongs at Flemington that was never bettered. His (converted to metric in 1972) “pacesetter” Flemington record for 1200m stood until 1991.
