Recently, the team introduced a select number of wine lockers for when special bottles are available, you can purchase and have it stored right downstairs. Corkage fees are waived for those with lockers. Rede tries each wine to make sure it’s some- thing worth highlighting and to see if it could be a candidate for the Club wine list. “Once the wines have been selected, we do research on the wine and winery to see what they already pair with their wines—this is a point of reference for us as the best wine pairings tend to come from regional pairings, where the wine and food may have developed together for generations,” explains Eder. As we enter a new year, whether sharing a sip with loved ones and friends or getting to know someone new at a wine dinner, you're encour- aged to take advantage of these programs to get together with each other, and get the most out of your Club experience. ■
In 2023, OCC held its first ever Food & Wine Fes- tival, where Chef Brandon and his team created an exclusive menu of mouthwatering bites to pair with top wines from around the world. The ever-popular program Wine Down Wednesdays launched back in the summer of 2020, offering guests premium wines at everyday prices–fifty percent off, in fact. In 2021, at the height of the pandemic, Rede had to think of creative ways to keep the F&B department running and members connected and engaged. He pivoted the once in-person events to a Virtual Wine Dinner series. Guests received two bottles of wine and light food pairings. He successfully kept the vintages flowing, and members connected to each other in a delicious way. Today, Wine Down Wednesday (in person!) is still one of the most loved offerings. If you're interested in something not on the menu, Rede is happy to see what special bottles might be available in the cellar. Yes, there’s a wine cellar at the Club! And it’s stocked with impressive wines that allow mem- bers to enjoy favorites and make new discoveries.
