El proyecto de vivienda social Humedal Rocuant se emplaza en el borde costero de Talcahuano, en la zona de la caleta El Morro junto al humedal de Rocuant, una de las más afectadas por el terremoto y tsunami de 2010. Frente a este desafío se estima trabajar en el vacío generado por la ex-industria pesquera SPK, que se enfrenta a la costanera más importante de la ciudad. Por medio de la organización de los bloques de manera transversal se pretende conectar visualmente la ciudad-humedal e incorporar el espacio público como plataforma del intercambio social y el desarrollo de la vida en comunidad. Son seis bloques destinados a vivienda, agrupados en tres conjuntos por medio de un volumen elevado que permite unificar y generar un pórtico al humedal. El bloque de vivienda se eleva tres niveles liberando la planta baja de manera que actúe como espacio colectivo, incorporando comercio de baja escala. The Rocuant Wetlands social housing project is located on the coastal sector of Talcahuano, in the El Morro fishing cove along the Rocuant wetlands, one of the areas most affected by the 2010 earthquake and tsunami. Faced with this challenge a decision was made to work in the empty plot left by the former SPK fishing factory, facing the most important seaside promenade of the city. The transverse placement of the blocks seeks to visually connect the city and the wetlands and incorporate public space as a platform for social exchange and the development of community life. Six blocks dedicated to housing are grouped into three sets by means of an elevated volume that links them creating a portal to the wetlands. The housing block is raised three stories clearing the ground level to act as a collective space while incorporating small-scale commerce.
