Valparaíso se caracteriza por ser una ciudad en esencia portuaria y cuya identidad la formó su habitante, generando mayor atractivo turístico a la zona del plan de Valparaíso y dejando sus alrededores o zonas altas del cerro inactivos y al margen del turismo. A partir de esto se propone un conjunto habitacional híbrido, donde conviven armónicamente una circulación vertical y viviendas abalconadas hacia el puerto, acompañado de espacios públicos tanto para los vecinos como para generar atractivos turísticos, además de una serie de terrazas miradores, para así potenciar las actividades propias del lugar y focos de interés. El terreno, por su difícil acceso, limita el campo de posibilidades respecto a la materialidad que las viviendas puedan adoptar, por lo que se opta por construirlas de metalcon prefabricado revestido en madera para dar un aspecto rústico y prolongar el lenguaje propio de Valparaíso y lo que la madera significa para el lugar. Valparaíso is essentially characterized as a port city with an identity formed by its inhabitants, attracting more tourism to the coastal plain and leaving the surrounding hills inactive and untouched by travelers. This situation gives rise to a proposal for a hybrid housing complex, where vertical circulations and harbor- balconied homes harmoniously coexist. They are accompanied by public spaces for both neighbors and tourists with a series of lookout terraces to enhance local activities and points of interest. The difficulty of access to the site limits the range of possibilities regarding the materials used for the dwellings. Prefabricated steel elements were chosen and clad in wood to ensure a rustic look that follows the local constructive language and what wood signifies for the place.
