Un tema de gran complejidad, como la vivienda social de altura media, fue el desafío del último concurso CAP para estudiantes.
The challenge of the latest CAP student competition was the complex issue of mid-rise social housing.
PRIMER LUGAR / FIRST PLACE
Las 44 propuestas que recibió el certamen debieron resolver temas de inserción urbana, de espacios públicos y comunitarios, de configuración de viviendas y de tecnologías y sistemas constructivos en acero, con la dificultad del tema planteado en esta versión: vivienda social de altura media. Según destacó el jurado, prácticamente todos los participantes abordaron con profundidad este tema de alta complejidad, alcanzando propuestas de gran nivel arquitectónico. El jurado lo integraron Antonia Lehmann, Agustín Infante, Eliseo Huencho, Alex Brahm, Patricio Schmidt, Carlos Alberto Urzúa (en representación de la AOA) y el ingeniero Alberto Maccioni. El director del concurso fue el arquitecto Álvaro Donoso. The 44 proposals submitted to the competition had to solve issues of urban integration, public and community spaces, the configuration of housing, technologies and building systems in steel, plus the added challenge of the topic raised in this version: mid-rise social housing. As the jury noted, virtually all participants thoroughly addressed this complex matter, resulting in proposals of a high architectural standard. The jury was composed of Antonia Lehmann, Agustín Infante, Eliseo Huencho, Alex Brahm, Patricio Schmidt, Carlos Alberto Urzúa (representing the AOA) and engineer Alberto Maccioni. The director of the competition was architect Álvaro Donoso.

El proyecto reconoce a Patronato como barrio receptor de una población multicultural histórica (comerciantes palestinos, orientales, peruanos, bolivianos y chilenos), la cual carece de viviendas suficientes. El bloque propuesto se asienta en Av. Recoleta con Santa Filomena (Metro Patronato), y plantea dar cobijo a estas familias considerando la interrelación entre culturas y el acceso a redes laborales y de servicios. El proyecto se eleva del nivel de calle en un esquema de puente- viga, situación límite que solo puede ser construida en acero. La propuesta arquitectónica se basa en: The project acknowledges the Patronato neighborhood as a receptor of a historic multicultural population (Palestinian, Asian, Peruvian, Bolivian and Chilean merchants) lacking sufficient housing. The proposed block is placed on the corner of Recoleta Avenue and Santa Filomena Street (Patronato Metro station), and seeks to provide shelter for these families taking into consideration the relationships between cultures and the access to job and service networks. The project is lifted from street level thanks to a bridge-beam, an extreme situation that can only be built in steel. The architectural proposal is based on:
