Hospitality Review - Dec 2016

If you are interested in following the progress of T21, I encourage you to get along to one of the regional T21 update presentations this month, or go to the website www.T21.net.au to see the six- monthly progress reports. Tourism Tasmania’s main priority in T21 is to create demand for leisure travel to Tasmania, and I am confident that demand for our state is strong. Recent research shows that Tasmania remains as appealing as ever and almost one third to travelling Australians continue to say they are considering a holiday in Tasmania within the next 2-3 years. On the international front, we continue to set new international visitor records, and the extremely positive feedback I continue to receive about Tasmania from our international travel partners and the travel trade gives me great confidence that international numbers will continue to grow and break records in the coming year. In fact our travel trade partners are very positive about forward bookings for Tasmania this season. So after a busy 2016, the team at Tourism Tasmania is looking forward to the Christmas break before getting stuck into a range of marketing projects in 2017 – some tried and true, and some new and different. In addition to our #TassieStyle summer advocacy campaign, work is also well underway to finalise our ninth Go Behind the Scenery Campaign, scheduled for late February. We have seen some great results coming from recent campaigns and the research has encouraged us to use some of the best content from previous campaigns to engage Australians differently and inspire them to start planning their next Tasmanian holiday. We are also currently undertaking new research to explore and understand new domestic market segments and growth opportunities for Tasmania. This will not be finished until early in the New Year, and I look forward to telling you more about this work then. There’s plenty I could tell you about, but for now, on behalf of the Board of Directors and all the team at Tourism Tasmania, I wish you and your families a wonderful Christmas, and a safe, healthy and prosperous 2017.

Share your Tassie snaps with us this summer and your next Tassie holiday could be on us! Post your photos and captions to Instagram, Twitter or Discover Tasmania’s Facebook Page wall, and include the #TassieStyle hashtag. *
