Massage, Marketing, & My Life

A Look In to What Jayde Loves

Hi, everyone. My name is Jayde, and I am the marketing director here at Marron Wellness Center. Many of you are used to seeing me as the massage therapist, VibraCussing, or at the front desk, but now I have taken a different role in the office. I’d like to take a moment in the newsletter to let you to get to know me. After completing high school, I took a year off and decided to attend a trade school. Massages have always been something I enjoyed, so I decided to give it a shot and enrolled at the Institute for Therapeutic Massage. I started working at Marron Wellness Center in 2010 doing chair massage for events. From there I learned all aspects of the office. I learned a lot from the former marketing director, and when she moved to Arkansas, it just seemed like the right next step to take.

my favorite time of year, so we spend a lot of time outside in the yard and taking walks in the park.

My other hobbies include hot yoga, travel, and being a food enthusiast. I am obsessed with yoga at Younique Yoga in Belmar. I try to go to class twice a week; it keeps me sane. I started traveling not too long ago, and since then I have had the travel bug. I just recently went to San Francisco and Napa in California, but my favorite spot I have been to so far is Costa Rica. I dream of retiring there one day. And everyone in my life can tell you I love checking out new restaurants and trying new foods. I even turned Dr. Marron on to one of his favorite restaurants: La Tapatia in Asbury. You really can’t beat a great Mexican restaurant. I am hoping the rest of the year brings more trips, one more puppy, and hopefully exciting new things for Marron Wellness Center.

When I am not in the office, a lot of my time is spent with my two dogs and my common-law husband, James. I have an 11-year-old Shih Tzu named Chloe and a 5-year-old pit mix named Kaine. Yes, I am that crazy dog mom. The summer is

4 Drink Hacks to Keep Your Beverage Cool

The sun is summer’s greatest ally — and greatest enemy. For every sun-soaked day at the beach, there are sunburns trying to ruin the party. For every excuse to drink an icy beverage, the sunshine’s more determined to keep the drink from staying cool.

These hacks will allow you to enjoy the benefits of the summer sun without the side effect of a warm beverage.

First, let’s say you just got home from the grocery store where you purchased a 12-pack of your favorite soda. You’re thirsty and it’s room temperature at best, right? Patience is a virtue, but there’s nothing wrong with accelerating the process. Fill a bowl with ice water and add a teaspoon of salt, then submerge a can of soda in the bowl. This process will cool your drink more than twice as fast as just putting it in the freezer. This other example requires less work, but it takes more freezer space. And if you’re like the rest of us, your freezer is pretty packed in the summer! Wet a paper towel and wrap it around a bottle or can before you place it in the freezer. The contents inside will cool much more quickly. If you have more time to plan, this hack will keep your drink cold for longer. Ice doesn’t fit in a bottle, and freezing your beer or other beverage will get you to Slushy Town in a hurry. Fill an empty bottle about halfway, put the cap on, and place it in the freezer on its side. When it’s frozen, pour your favorite beverage inside — the ice from top to bottom will keep the contents cool on the go. Most people believe infertility treatment is strictly a modern-day science. But many couples trying to get pregnant end up turning to an age-old, side- effect-free treatment for help. Acupuncture is an ancient Chinese treatment that relies on the strategic placement of hair-thin needles into a grid-like pattern that spans the body from head to toe. The needles are used to stimulate certain key energy points believed to regulate spiritual, mental, emotional, and physical balance. According to the American Pregnancy Association, acupuncture treatments can improve blood flow and improve ovarian and follicular function. Improved blood flow means better circulation in the ovaries and uterus, making them stronger and healthier. Acupuncture also enriches the uterine lining, which improves the chances that it will support the egg to full term. Finally, acupuncture helps relax the uterus and stop contractions. Another way that acupuncture infertility treatment increases fertility is by reducing stress, which is often a factor in the fertility of both men and women. Because of the delicate balance between the hypothalamus,

Bonus Hack: This has nothing to do with the sun, but is still a neat way to make drinking your beverage easier. If you go fancy and use a straw when you drink from a can, you know how hard it is to get the straw to stay put. Spin the can’s tab around and feed the straw through it. Now you’ll have a well-behaved straw that doesn’t shift around when you need it to be there for you. The sun is hot, and the summer is long. You need the comfort of a cool beverage to help you get through it. Keep cool, wear sunscreen, and have fun!

pituitary, and reproductive glands, stress can prevent a woman from ovulating. Stress can also create spasms in the fallopian tubes and uterus, which can interfere with movement and implantation of a fertilized egg. Acupuncture infertility treatment counters the effects of stress by releasing endorphins in the brain.

During your first acupuncture treatment, you will be asked in-depth questions about your health, diet, and emotional state. You will give descriptions of your menstrual cycles, your pulse will be taken, and you will have a thorough tongue inspection. The actual puncture sites will depend on your unique pattern and needs. Handle With Care Is Chiropractic Treatment Safe for Children?

What is the minimum age requirement for a patient to visit the chiropractor?

• • •

Growing pains Sports injuries

Breastfeeding difficulties

A. 18 B. 15 C. 13 D. 8

It’s important to remember that a chiropractor cannot cure these conditions. However, they are trained to correct spinal problems that may impede nerve function and help improve the overall health of a child. Adults who receive chiropractic care know how rough an adjustment can be, which would understandably make parents hesitant to schedule a visit for their child. However, when administered to children or infants, chiropractic adjusting procedures are modified to be far less forceful. Many children enjoy their visits to the chiropractor! The International Chiropractic Pediatric Association conducted a study of over 10,000 chiropractic visits with children in the United States, Canada, and Europe. The study found that few children experienced any discomfort or distress, and most children showed no adverse reaction to the adjustment. During their developing years, children can experience greater benefits from chiropractic care than adults. Regular adjustments can help keep the spine and skeletal structure in top condition, so your child can enjoy everything childhood offers, from first steps to the first day of school.

Trick question! There is no minimum age requirement for chiropractic treatment. A pediatric chiropractor can check a newborn infant’s spine shortly after delivery and help address any trauma caused by the stress of birth. From then on, regular visits to the chiropractor can greatly aid children in their development and help them overcome many of the aches and pains of childhood. These conditions include:

Visit the Happiest Places in the World — It’s Contagious

rich culture, and perfect weather give tourists a taste of paradise that the natives enjoy all year long. Next in line is a state that has little in common with the Aloha State. Alaska came in second place for the third consecutive year. With eight national parks, including Denali, Glacier Bay, and Gates of the Arctic, Alaska’s 663,000 square miles are filled to the brimwith the wonders of nature. The Happiest Country in the World Denmark has long been the standard-bearer in this category, but this year it relinquished the title to its Scandinavian sister. Norway is home to some of the most breathtaking vistas on Earth, most notably its western fjords like the world-famous Geirangerfjord and Nærøfjord. For the city wanderer, you’ll find choice seaside restaurants and walkable streets in towns like Bergen, the country’s second-largest city, which sports rainbow architecture and a 15th-century waterfront. Knowing the heart of a destination begins and ends with its people. Tack on beautiful scenery and daydream-worthy activities, and you just found yourself the perfect vacation.

Visit a hustling, bustling tourist trap and what do you get? Crowds of competitive travelers and a local populace that is sick to death of them. Visit a place with happy people, and you get good service, friendly faces, and you’ll learn firsthand what Harvard researchers affirmed in a 2012 study: Happiness is contagious. Luckily for the average traveler, the places that topped a nationwide Gallup poll and the United Nations’ annual World Happiness Report have plenty to offer in addition to cheerful locals. The Happiest States in the U.S. If we were to tell you that Hawaii is the happiest state in the country, you probably wouldn’t be surprised. And sure enough, Hawaii ranked first in overall happiness for the sixth consecutive year. The sunny beaches,
