PREMIER OF TASMANIA
The Hon. Peter Gutwein MP
A lot has certainly happened since I last communicated with you in February’s edition, not the least being a Liberal Government being re- elected for a historic third term and achieving a genuine majority in doing so. My Government is incredibly excited at the opportunity we have been given to deliver on our policies and build on our achievements in this next term. I’d also like to thank the THA and its members for its support through the campaign and for the professional, and very persistent input it provided as we fine-tuned our policy platform and election commitments. During what has been an incredibly challenging fifteen months we have seen Tasmanians band together and demonstrate great resilience, determination and empathy for each other like never before, and that makes me proud to be a Tasmanian and honoured to be your Premier.
There’s still a long way to go, and a power of work to do, to reclaim our pre COVID-19 position in many areas, and in particular in our tourism and hospitality sector. Nevertheless, I am very confident that by working together to achieve agreed outcomes, we will succeed. This is also an opportunity for me to congratulate all those Tasmanian hospitality operators that will be competing for an award at the forthcoming THA Awards Ceremony to be held later this month. I suspect that this will be an even greater event this year as the industry looks back on what it has experienced and overcome since the last Awards event. I look forward, along with Minister Courtney, to working even more closely with the THA and its membership in the year ahead.
