FLoid Cell Imaging Training

Gel-based Digestion

The FLoid Cell Imaging Station is a user-friendly fluorescence imaging system, which can substitute standard microscopes for routine observation of cultured cells. In this training, the users will be given an overview of the instrument and understand how to operate the system in order to obtain cell images. PARTICIPANT PROFILE This course is intended for students and research professionals from KAUST, and their collaborators from academia and industry, who want to use the FLoid Cell Imaging Station. PREREQUISITES • Active Badger account

Gel-based or In-gel digestion is a method of sample preparation for Mass Spectrometric (MS) identification of proteins in shotgun proteomics. This method includes several steps; gel destaining, reduction and alkylation of cysteine resi- dues in the protein, protein digestion, and extraction of the generated peptides. The training will introduce gel-based digestion, and peptide clean-up prior to pro- teomics analysis. Upon completion, participants will be able to process protein samples for MS analysis using gel-based digestion. PARTICIPANT PROFILE This course is intended for students and research professionals from KAUST, and their collaborators from academia and industry, who want to become familiar with gel-based proteomics for the analysis of Immuno-Precipitated proteins or pull downs.
