CHNS/O Analysis by Organic Elemental Analyzer INORGANICS

INORGANICS

Thermogravimetric Analysis (TGA)

Thermogravimetric Analysis (TGA) monitors the mass of a sample as the func-tion of temperature. The instrument consists of a precision balance with a sam-ple pan located inside a furnace, where the sample is heated or cooled under a controlled temperature program in a defined atmosphere. The coupling with FT-IR is available as an advanced option, which simultaneously provides high-spec-tral-resolution data over a wide spectral range. Gas selection of an inert and air are available at ACL. This course introduces the basic theory of TGA, as well as sample preparation, instrument operation, software usage, and data processing. Following this course, the user is expected to be able to independently operate the instrument and perform basic data analysis.

The CHNS/O Elemental Organic analyzer provides rapid and precise determina- tion of Carbon, Hydrogen, Nitrogen, Sulfur, and Oxygen content in a wide range of materials such as catalysts, sediments, solids, composts, crude oil, lubricants, et al. This course introduces the basic principles of the technique, as well as sample preparation, instrument calibration, software usage, and data process- ing. Following this course, the user is expected to be able to independently operate the instrument and perform basic data analysis. Advanced functions for volatile sample introduction, total organic carbon quantification, and low sulfur measurement by FPD detector are available through additional training.
