NUCLEAR MAGNETIC RESONANCE SPECTROSCOPY Imaging and Characterization Core Laboratory
The Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) Spectrosco- py laboratory offers cutting-edge advanced technolo- gies for obtaining atomic resolution information on the structure and motion of molecules. It is equipped with instruments spanning four magnetic resonance applica- tion areas, which include solution-state NMR, solid-state NMR, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), and electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) spectroscopy. The NMR laboratory is supported by staff scientists who are profi- cient in performing both routine and advanced applica- tions on all equipped instrumentations. Examples include one-dimensional and multi-dimensional solution-state NMR spectroscopy applications for small molecules (such COSY, TOCSY, NOESY, HSQC, HMBC) and large molecules (three-dimensional correlations); multinucle- ar and 2D correlations for solid-state materials (such as MQMAS, HETCOR, Multiple quantum NMR); Dynamic Nuclear Polarization NMR spectroscopy for solid materi- als; ultra-low temperature and advanced EPR spectros- copy (such as ENDOR, ESEEM, HYSCORE); and MRI for plant and rock samples. The KAUST NMR laboratory is an established Center of Excellence in Magnetic Resonance of Bruker instru- ments since 2019.
