Aramis Raman/PL - Temperature Dependent Training

Raman spectroscopy provides chemical information for the molecules of interest (solid, thin film, powder, liquid, biomaterials). Area/line/points mapping can be performed to understand the distribution of different components within the scan area. The samples which can be used are powder, thin film, and biomaterials. This course introduces the area mapping operation with the Aramis Raman spectrometer. Participants will learn how to use the instruments for Raman and PL mapping measurement acquisition, analysis, and data export. Topics covered include: sample preparation; handling of objectives; calibration of the system using LabSpec 6 for Si substrate; and use of Labspec6 software to run/acquire/ save the spectrum. PARTICIPANT PROFILE This course is intended for students and research professionals from KAUST who want to analyze samples to understand their chemical/structural informa- tion. Temperature dependent Raman measurements allow the users to understand the behavior of a sample by vary- ing the temperatures. The samples which can be used are powder and thin film. This course introduces the temperature dependent operation of Aramis Raman spectrometer, and how to use the instruments for powder/thin film samples for Raman and PL measurements. Participants will learn how to: use badger to book/enable/disable Raman spectrometer, prepare samples, handle objectives, calibrate the system using LabSpec 6 for Si substrate, use Labspec6 software to run/acquire/save the spectrum, and analyze the resulting data.
