CO2 Laser Training MICROFLUIDICS

Heidelberg µPG501 Maskless Lithography Training

The PLS6.75 and VLS 3.50 have a wavelength of 10 600 nanometers that is absorbed by materials such as polymers. This laser is used primarily for cutting and etching acrylic (PMMA) with a focal spot size of approximately 250 microm- eters. Laser induced graphene (LIG) can also be realized when using Polyimide thin films sheets. Glass and Sapphire can be etched as well. This course introduces the CO2 laser and the standard procedure to operate the system. Users will learn about the basic CO2 wavelength and how to identify which materials can be cut. Basic training on Coral Draw, and ULS print settings, priorities, and adjustments of parameters will be provided. PARTICIPANT PROFILE This course is intended for students and research professionals from KAUST who would like to fabricate laser induced graphene (LIG) on Polyimide, microflu- idic devices, and acrylic (PMMA) enclosures. The µPG 501 is a tabletop maskless aligner system, which can be used for direct-writing as well as for making photomasks. It uses a 390-nm 10-Watt LED light source and an optical system comprised of a highly reflective mirror, also known as a DMDTM (digital micro-mirror device). This course offers an introduction to spin coating wafers with photo resist to pre- pare the wafer for the maskless lithography process. Participants will learn the standard procedure to operate the µPG 501 system and receive basic training on how to convert a GDSII file into machine code for further processing.
