HIGH THROUGHPUT PHENOTYPING

Plant Growth: Automated Plant Phenotyping Equipment

The Plant Growth Core Laboratory manages a plant phenotyping system, com- bining an environmental growth chamber with high-throughput measurements. The equipment (PSI, Czech Republic) is fully automated and can be used to dig- itally “phenotype” individual plants in pots or trays with a maximum of 20 plants up to 50 cm in height. The phenotyping system is equipped with a Chlorophyll Fluorescence Imaging Unit, RGB Imaging Unit, Thermal Imaging Unit, Watering and Weighing Unit, and an Adaptation Tunnel. This course discusses experiment planning, measurement taking, and the limita- tions of an automated system. Participants will learn about the equipment layout, as well as its software components, operations, and safety measures. Batch actions and data acquisition and analysis will also be discussed. PARTICIPANT PROFILE This course is intended for students and research professionals from KAUST who want to use the automated plant phenotyping equipment. PREREQUISITES • Active Badger account
