Introduction to Electrical & Electronics Engineering

Laboratory Virtual Instrument Engineering Workbench (LabVIEW), from National Instruments (NI), is used to design and deploy custom applications for measure- ment and control systems that interact with real-world data or signals in fields such as science and engineering. This session will explore the fundamentals of graphical system design and discover how LabVIEW can benefit your applica- tions by providing diverse measurements: signal processing analysis: advanced control: and possibility to be exposed to desktop, embedded, and industrial deployment. This course introduces LabVIEW and data acquisition, in which par- ticipants will learn how to capture data from a sensor, integrate analysis into their application and write data to a file. Upon completion of the course, they will have an understanding of systems based on research requirements, specifications, actuators, and sensors. They will be able to select data acquisition and control systems considering resolution, rate, and range, and then acquire, analyze, and log data. PARTICIPANT PROFILE This seminar is for students, researchers, scientists, and engineers who want to design their data acquisition and control systems with no previous knowledge of LabVIEW. PREREQUISITES • Active Badger account

This training session focuses on basic electrical/electronic concepts and hands- on participation utilizing the equipment in the Electronics Workshop. Participants will learn to use general electronics laboratory instruments and to build prototype circuits. Through demonstration and hands-on activities, they will be introduced to electrical wiring, power ratings, electrostatic discharge (ESD), soldering, and active and passive components. PARTICIPANT PROFILE This training session is for students, researchers, scientists, and engineers who have little to no knowledge of basic electrical and electronics concepts and want to learn to utilize those in their research.
