Dynamic Light Scattering

The Zetasizer instrument uses a Dual Angle Dynamic Light Scattering (DLS) technique to measure particle and molecular size of samples at very low or high concentrations. It provides a wide particle size range of measurement from 0.3 nm to 10 µm. This course introduces the fundamental background theory of the technique, including a discussion of its strengths and weaknesses and general guidance for its application. It trains users on sample preparation, software us- age, and collecting the DLS data. Following this course, the user is expected to be able to independently operate the instrument and perform basic data analy- sis.

The Particulate Systems Microactivity Effi is a highly sophisticated modular laboratory system for determining the selectivity and activity of catalysts. Using a range of options and configurations, the standard platform can be easily suited to the catalytic testing needs of the user. The course allows the user to program several experiments and obtain results in real time. A wide range of reactions can be accommodated, including: hydrotreating, hydrocracking, hydrogenation, isomerization, hydrodesulfurization (HDS), oxidation, Fischer-Tropsch, reform- ing (aromatization) and steam reforming, and others. Following this course, the user is expected to be able to independently operate the instrument and perform basic data analysis.
