In view of the great events in Palestine which have attracted world-wide attention, are you burdened to pray for God's ancient people Israel? • The Old Testament portrays the mighty sweep of God’s purpose and plan for all mankind. Moses and Elijah are the outstanding figures representing the law and the prophets. When we turn to the New Testament, in the 17th chapter of Matthew, we find the account of the transfiguration, of our blessed Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, telling us that “ His’ face did shine as the sun, and his raiment was white as the light.” This brings us to the thought of the glory that our blessed Lord Jesus always had with the Father. We read in John' 17:5, “ And now, 0 Father, glorify thou me with thine own self with the glory which I had with thee before the world was.” Moses and Elijah appeared at this transfiguration as witnesses, representing the law and the prophets; Peter, James and John were witnesses, rep resenting the New Testament covenant of grace; and our Lord Jesus in the center, transfigured and glorified as God, of both the Old and the New Testament. There, Moses and Elijah were witnessing from the Old Testa ment, Peter, James and John witnessing from the New Testament to the Deity of our blessed Lord Jesus. • The following is only one of the many experiences in our work: One of our workers, a member of the Saturday afternoon home visitation team, is a friend of a Jewish family, having known their son in high school. Many times she was invited to dinner in their home, and was much loved by them, even though she was a Gentile
brought closer to the heart of the dear Jewish mother, and a great burden was felt for the salvation of the mother and a surviving sister. On a recent Saturday afternoon visit to this home another of our missionaries went along with this worker to present the claims of Christ. As the subject of heaven was proclaimed, and its reality as re vealed in God’s Word was stressed, this dear Jewish mother said, “With all of the tragedy and sorrow in this world, it is good to know that there
is such a place as heaven, and you make my heart so glad. Could you tell us more of the reality, and how we can attain the goal of heaven?” Then our missionary opened the Bible and started to read the 21st chapter of Revelation, verses 1-5, the key thought being, “ And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying; neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.” The Gospel was then given, telling how Christ took our sins upon Himself, shedding His precious blood for our souls, so that we can become new creatures in Christ, born of God’s Spirit, and made ready for heaven. The daughter said to her'mother, “ Yes, this must be the real way to God.” When they were asked to make a decision to personally accept the Lord Jesus as Saviour, both with one accord said “ Yes” to God. There, in the living room of the Jewish home, the workers, with the mother and daughter, implored God on their knees to save them, through the merit and atoning work of our blessed Lord Jesus. We covet your prayers that God will make it possible for Jewish young people to come as students for the ministry of Jewish Evangelism. It costs $125.00 to train a student each year. How we would like U>‘ see a goodly number of Jewish students come and receive instruction and preparation as Jewish missionaries! May God give you guidance in this matter. If interested, please write for further information regarding our work, and the Christian literature we use in helping Jewish people to a knowledge of our blessed Lord Jesus as Saviour.
