Q: How did it start for Tyrol Ski & Sports? A : Tyrol was started by Barb and Jerry Schliep in 1965. They opened in a small space on historic 3rd St in downtown Rochester. In 1969 Tyrol was moved to its current location on 2nd St SW, gradually increasing its retail space to it’s present 9,000 square feet. The business was sold to their daughter and son in-law (Kristin and Robb Welch) in 2003, who continue to run it.
