This is an anthology of thirty-eight selections from major Christian writ ers from the Apostle Paul to J. Gres ham Machen. The design was to select meaty, solid pieces with the great truths of the gospel represented. At least one essay (Jonathan Ed wards’ “ On the Trinity” ) is published here for the first time, and others are of the sort that are seldom come across in general religious literature. A few samples are: “ The Epistle to Diogne- tus” (2nd cent.), “Why God Became Man,” by Anselm; “The Certainity or Power of the Word of God,” by Zwingli, “The Solemn Scene of the Last Judgment,” by Gilbert Tennant.
