God gave them favor in the eyes of their companions. There was nothing priggish about Daniel. He was well thought of by his friends. Notice how loyal his companions were to him. This is a fine trait. Success did not turn Daniel’s head. He was a man to whom, early in his career, men turned. We are told that “God gave them knowledge and skill in all learning and wisdom: and Daniel had under standing in all visions and dreams.” This was God’s reward. Daniel reveals the power of God and His universal sovereignty. God’s power is contrasted with world-power. Nebuchadnezzar dreamed a dream. world government to the Gentiles. God revealed His plan of the future to a heathen monarch in a dream. (Read Dan. 2:29.) After Nebuchad nezzar had dreamed, he forgot! But it worried him. No one could tell him his dream but one who knew “the God of heaven,” so Nebuchadnezzar sought out Daniel to interpret his dream. Daniel called his prayer partners (Daniel 2:17) and they presented their problem before God. “Then was the secret revealed unto Daniel in a night vision.” (Dan. 2:19.) God nev er disappoints faith. Daniel knew no other way than the way of prayer. Remember at the time Nebuchad nezzar dreamed his dream the Per sian kingdom did not exist. It was merely a Babylonian satrapy. It would have seemed impossible that a strong Grecian empire would rise. Only wandering tribes inhabited the Hellenic states.
