Antoine L. Collins

Antoine L. Collins Esq. ( Alpha 1991) , was born in Gary, Indiana. Although raised in the state’s foster care system, he managed to escape the merry-go-round of foster homes that many children suffer.

At Indiana University - Bloomington, Brother Collins began to explore and develop his artistic abilities. After leaving IU he earned a J.D. from the John Marshall Law School in Chicago, before practicing law in the United States and Canada over the past 16 years. Brother Collins’ career began as an Assistant State’s Attorney for the Baltimore City’s States Attorney’s Office. There, he prosecuted cases ranging from minor theft to felony child abuse and domestic violence. Subsequently, he took a position with one of Baltimore’s top law firms, defending Workers’ Compensation cases. Based in Ottawa, Brother Collins was the Principal Lawyer in a progressive and dynamic law firm that offered personalized service in a variety of legal disciplines. Currently, he is an adjudicator with the Immigration and Refugee Board of Canada. Brother Collins is actively involved in the County of Carleton Law Association (CCLA), President of The Canadian Association of Black Lawyers (CABL) - Ottawa Chapter, and serves on the OBA’s Governance and Equality (Vice Chair) Committees. In addition to his legal career, Brother Collins also has an extensive musical theatre résumé and independently released two full-length jazz albums. His 2015 debut LP, Somewhere Along the Way , which was recorded in Tel Aviv, Israel includes soulful, R&B-inspired takes on traditional standards, including “I Put A Spell on You” and “Sometimes I Feel Like a Motherless Child.” Building on his initial creative success, his 2018 follow up album Nature Boy, The Music of Nat King Cole , celebrates the legacy of a global cultural icon who left an indelible mark on jazz and popular song. Whether recording in the studio, performing musical theatre, live jazz concerts or in the courtroom, Brother Collins, exudes posi- tive energy through his personality, style, warmth and always supports a more enlightened and inclusive community.

Mark B. Jackson

Mark B. Jackson ( Eta 1992) is a first-generation Canadian born to immigrant parents from Jamaica where he lived in Toronto. He received a full scholarship to study biology and run track at the University of Ne- braska, Lincoln.

In 1992, he qualified for his first Canadian Olympic Team and competed in Barcelona, Spain, represent- ing Canada. Over the course of the next few years Brother Jackson continued with a professional athletic career, living and racing in several World Championships, winning medals and setting longstanding national records. After retiring from the sport of track & field, Brother Jackson returned to Toronto and entered the business world. Within the field of Information Technology, he continues to hold leadership positions with a focus in strategy and delivery.

Michael C. Hanna

Michael Curtis Hanna ( Beta Epsilon 1975 ) was born in Detroit, Michigan. He was raised in New York and New Jersey. In 1973, he graduated from High School in Teaneck, New Jersey. Although he was called for military active duty for the Vietnam War on January 23, 1973, the draft was suspended June 30, 1973; this permitted Brother Hanna to attend Carnegie-Mellon University, where he received a BS in Mechanical Engineering. He attained an MS in Engineering Management from the University of Detroit, Mercy in 2004.

Brother Hanna was recruited by Chrysler Corp in 1979 and retired in 2008, holding various positions

throughout his career. Brother Hanna is married to Cheryle R. Chapman and they have four children.

Throughout this journey, Brother Hanna maintained a passion for singing and performs solo with various groups, choirs and en- sembles. He has recorded several CDs, continues to pursue this love post-retirement, and he maintains the musical archive of his late father, noted musician Sir Roland Hanna. While in Delaware, on assignment for Chrysler, his wife Cheryle met Brother Kirby Spivey III, a minister, and both Cheryle and Brother Spivey would later take ministerial assignments in Canada--Cheryle in Toronto and Brother Spivey in Nova Scotia. The family friendship between the Hannas and the Spiveys remained, and the Ontario, Maritime connection grew. Knowing they were both Kappas, Brother Kirby and Brother Hanna often spoke of interest in chartering a chapter in Canada. That became a reality in 2020.
