Learn More About Your OFA!

2. Share your voice: Regional meetings provide an open forum for members to raise questions, concerns and priorities with local Federation leaders and the OFA. 3. Elect leadership and representatives: Eligible voting members will elect local representatives for positions on the OFA Policy Advisory Council and as delegates to the 2025 Annual General Meeting, scheduled for November 25 and 26 in Toronto. On Wednesday, August 27th, the Elgin Federation of Agriculture (EFA)’s Regional meeting will take place at Hoffsuemmer Grains in St. Thomas. All OFA members in Elgin County are welcome to attend this great event to enjoy networking and an update from Michelle Hoffsuemmer on grain marketing trends. Please contact Danielle at elginfarmers@gmail.com for more information. EFA will also hold an Annual Meeting in late November or early December, where they will elect members to join their volunteer board. If you have ever considered a grassroots leadership role, EFA would be a great board to consider. Holding an OFA membership offers our members great benefits. While members were disappointed with the closure of Peavey Mart, we have recently added HearingLife as a benefit partner, and we are always looking for more partners to enhance our benefits. Members also enjoy benefits from Mark’s, Scotiabank, Cooperators, Telus, Honda, and GM, to name a few. Visit ofa.on.ca/benefit and please don’t hesitate to reach out to me with any questions. I wish you all the best in the coming months.

by Laura Fraser, OFA Member Service Representative for Elgin and Oxford County Laura.fraser@ofa.on.ca Summer is in full swing, the time when everyone’s work/home life balance is put to the test! Many of us work to find that sweet spot between

enjoying summer vacations -- or downtime at home with family and friends and keeping everything going in our pro- fessional life as well. Life can be a whirlwind of balancing acts and keeping events and appointments straight. With lots on the go in the upcoming months here at the Ontario Federation of Agriculture (OFA), I thought I’d outline some important dates and information to keep in mind when looking for events or ways to engage with the farming community. Regional Meeting season is here, offering our members a platform to discuss key issues and explore opportunities to get involved. Here are three compelling reasons why OFA members are encouraged to participate in these meetings: 1. Discover more about your local Federation: Learn about the various activities, events and programs your Federation is involved in to promote agriculture within your community. Meet your local provincial director and member service representative for the latest OFA updates.
