Christine Russell - “An Introduction to the ISLE Teaching Method for Physics” (session 22) The ISLE (Investigative Science Learning Environment) method has been around for the last twenty years. The process involves practical, hands-on learning, mimicking the way physicists construct and apply knowledge. The basis of the method is for students to develop scientific abilities such as experimental design, model building, and multiple representations. Learning is the responsibility of the student, which helps overcome fear, develop perseverance, and a growth mindset. An introduction to the method, learning goals, and strategies for implementation will be presented. Courtlin Sanders - “Feral Cat Management in the United States” (session 9) Feral cats are defined as domesticated cats which have been born and live in the wild and have had little to no human contact.
