homeless population in the continental United states have a serious mental illness, it could be things such as schizophrenia or bipolar disorder. Alexandra Sierra Rioz - “Non-sense” (session 17) In the setting of an ironic but at the same time critical piece, the omniscient third-person narrator tells throughout this fiction piece the “mundane” details of the life of a young woman, whose characteristics are slowly being revealed as the reader advances. There’s nothing special about her life, because this piece is not about what’s special but what’s common. What’s common within all girls and women in the world and the things that most of them go through at least once in their lifetime, although they shouldn’t be experiencing them at all. It’s a piece of reflections, of that kind that makes you sit still for a little while wondering. Alexandra Sierra Rioz and Allexis Lark - “Combating the Perceptions of Cheerleading” (session 15) Misconceptions and false cultural norms surround the term“cheer”, that paint a distorted picture of what the sport is all about. In this research project, we combat the misleading perceptions of cheerleading typically found in America. This project highlights the things that people think about cheerleading that aren’t actually true. We will cover topics that concern the cultural norms of cheerleading, including sexual orientation of cheer athletes, the rigorousness of cheer, and the mental and physical challenges that cheerleaders suffer from, and we demonstrate what’s wrong and what’s right within this sport. Jacopo Sottocornola - “Money in Sport” (session 15) Many fans nowadays complain about the role that money represents in the world of sport, thinking that it is destroying the game in itself. So, the question this essay is trying to answer is: “What does money represent in sport nowadays?”There is a lot of misinformation about this. Providing an essay that explains how money works for real will make people curious to read and then cultured about it. I argue that money represents a very important element in sport nowadays: it gives a lot of jobs and it helps to develop new technologies that can also be used outside the sports field.
