Open Days (London and Manchester only) Open Days are an excellent way for you to gain real insight into our firm before you consider formally applying. The day will start with an overview of the firm, introducing you to our business and what differentiates us from our competitors. You will take part in a number of interactive presentations and workshops designed to build up your business acumen, as well as hearing in detail from the Graduate Recruitment team around what we are looking for and how you can make a successful application. You will also have several opportunities to meet with our trainees where you will be able to find out what trainee life is really like on a day-to-day basis. These are aimed at students in their first year of undergraduate study or above, either from a law or non-law background. Dates: November 2017 through to May 2018 How to apply: Online applications are open from 1 October 2017 and will be screened on a rolling basis. Bright Futures Programme (London only) Aimed at first year law students and penultimate year non-law students this scheme is designed to give you your first taste of working life at an international law firm. This will give you the opportunity to observe sophisticated legal transactions, develop an understanding of our core industry sectors and learn how we help our clients achieve their commercial objectives. You will be allocated a trainee mentor who will assist you with any tasks that you are given and who will be on hand to provide day-to-day advice. A variety of social events will also allow you to network with colleagues from across the firm and give you an insight into our people and culture. Vacation Schemes We run a series of vacation schemes in our London, Manchester, Scotland and Dubai offices. An increasing number of our trainees join us after completing a vacation scheme; over 90% of our 2019 intake completed a scheme with us. A vacation scheme with us is the best possible way for you to get to know us, and for us to get to know you. What does a vacation scheme at Clyde & Co look like? The vacation schemes have been designed to give you a real insight into Clyde & Co and what a career with us may look like. During the two weeks you will sit with a Partner, Legal Director or Associate who will act as your supervisor and be responsible for allocating you work on a daily basis. You will have the opportunity to: • Learn about our core practice areas of Insurance, Energy, Trade and Commodities, Infrastructure and Transportation to see how the law is applied in the real world • Engage with our lawyers both professionally and at social events • See cases and questions coming from clients and have the opportunity to draft responses and advice • Attend court hearings, arbitrations and mediations to see the different types of litigation available • Be involved in significant deals, meetings and negotiations • Attend networking events and social events with clients • Prepare legal and case research As well as becoming involved with the work of the department we encourage you to get involved with any sporting, pro bono and general social events during your time with us. At the end of your vacation scheme you will be assessed for a training contract. Our process is robust, objective and fair and it aims to be two way, so that you get just as much out of it as we do. When do I need to apply? Online applications need to be made between 1 October 2017 and 7 January 2018 and will be screened on a rolling basis. Training Contract Interview Days (London and Manchester only) If you wish to apply directly for a training contract we run one-day assessment centres in the Autumn. Each year we introduce a fresh assessment centre scenario based on a real case or deal the firm has worked on. A number of assessments will stem from this which you complete across the day. You will also have an interview with two members of our Graduate Recruitment Panel. Applications can be made online between 1 October 2017 and 31 July 2018 and interviews tend to take place in the Autumn.
