BIKESHARE GRANT PROGRAMS Applications are now being accepted!
R ochester’s popular bikeshare grant program is set to return for a second and final time in 2023. In addition to individual bike grants, community organizations, non-profits, and affordable housing developments seeking a small fleet of bikes to host their own bike share are eligible to apply. In total, the City is granting 50 refurbished bicycles. Interested parties must complete a short application; applications are due by Wednesday, April 26. The bikes will be provided to grantees in early May following completion of basic bike maintenance training. With the sun setting of the bike share program previously hosted at the Rochester Public Library, the remaining bikes will be once again be offered to the community through the bikeshare grant. The City and partners are evaluating other options to offer micro-mobility through the Rochester Public Library. Bike sharing in Rochester dates back to 2016 and has been free for users since 2018 when the City took over Nice Ride Minnesota’s Rochester bicycle fleet. Collaborators who helped keep the bikes maintained and free for use include the City of Rochester Parks and Recreation, Experience Rochester, Olmsted County Statewide Health Improvement Partnership, Mayo Clinic, Rochester Public Library, Destination Medical Center Economic Development Agency, and We Bike Rochester.
