mind. For many individuals, a cancer diagnosis can be one of the most devastating experiences of their lives, triggering a range of emotional and psychological challenges. In this article, we will explore how cancer impacts the mental health of patients and their loved ones, the common psychological effects, and coping techniques to manage this emotional burden. ancer is an illness that affects not only the body but also the C on Mental Health Impact of Cancer
Common Psychological Effects of Cancer
Additionally, many patients face depression. The feeling of loss of control, changes in physical appearance, and exhaustion from treatments can contribute to profound sadness. Depression can lead to a loss of interest in activities they once enjoyed, further worsening their quality of life. Another psychological effect that may arise is post- traumatic stress. Patients may relive the trauma of their treatments, surgeries, and diagnoses, experiencing flashbacks and severe stress episodes. This situation is especially common after the patient has overcome the illness, as memories of the process can remain overwhelming. Cancer affects not only the patient but also their loved ones. Close relationships can become strained due to the emotional and physical changes experienced by the patient. The illness can create emotional distance between the patient and friends or family, as many people do not know how to respond to a cancer diagnosis. Impact on Relationships and Social Support
A cancer diagnosis is often shocking. From that moment on, the patient’s life transforms, generating a series of emotions that include fear, anxiety, and sadness. One of the most common psychological effects is anxiety. Patients may experience constant fear about the future, uncertainty regarding their treatment, and concern for their survival. Anxiety can interfere with sleep, affect concentration, and generate feelings of despair.
Page 08
Patients may experience feelings of isolation. The fear of being a burden to others, combined with the perception that others do not understand their suffering, can lead patients to withdraw. This situation can exacerbate the emotional effects of the illness, making patients feel more alone and disconnected from their support network. Coping Techniques and Emotional Treatment It is essential for patients to receive psychological support to help them face the emotional challenges associated with cancer. Several coping techniques have proven effective. One of the most widely used tools is cognitive- behavioral therapy (CBT), which helps patients identify and change negative thought patterns. CBT is particularly helpful in treating anxiety and depression, as it allows patients to take control of their thoughts and emotions. Another valuable option is acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), which helps patients accept their emotions without judgment. ACT focuses on living in the present and accepting difficult situations, which can be particularly beneficial for those facing a cancer diagnosis. In addition to therapy, many individuals find comfort in mindfulness and meditation practices. These techniques allow patients to reduce stress and find peace in the present moment. Meditation and mindfulness help alleviate anxiety and promote a positive outlook on daily life, even amidst illness.
Finally, support groups can be immensely helpful. By connecting with others who have gone through similar experiences, patients find a space where they can express themselves without fear of judgment. Support groups allow for the sharing of advice, experiences, and emotions, creating a sense of community and belonging. Cancer is a disease that profoundly affects both the body and the mind. Psychological effects such as anxiety, depression, and post- traumatic stress are common among patients. Additionally, the impact on relationships and social isolation can aggravate emotional situations. However, there are techniques and treatments that can help patients cope with these emotional challenges. Through therapy, meditation, and social support, patients can find ways to face cancer with resilience and hope. Mental health is an integral part of recovery and should be addressed with the same importance as physical treatment.
Snack and Activity Ideas for the Whole Family Healthy Halloween
Spider Deviled Eggs
Halloween is a celebration filled with fun, costumes, and of course, sweets. However, the abundance of sugary treats can pose a challenge for those looking to enjoy this holiday in a healthier way. The good news is that there are many ways to celebrate Halloween with nutritious snacks and entertaining activities that promote a healthy lifestyle. In this article, we will explore some creative ideas for a healthy family Halloween. Healthy Snack Ideas for Halloween Healthy snacks don't have to be boring. With a little creativity, you can prepare delicious and fun options that everyone in the family will love. Here are some ideas:
Prepare hard-boiled eggs and fill them with a mixture of yolk, avocado, and a pinch of salt. Use sliced black olives to form the body and legs of a “spider.” This snack
is low in carbs and contains healthy proteins.
Whole Wheat Pumpkin Muffins Pumpkin muffins are a fall classic. Use whole wheat flour and sweeten the muffins with applesauce or honey instead of sugar. You can add nuts or chia seeds for an extra nutritional boost. These muffins are rich in fiber and vitamin A. Carrot and Pepper “Fingers” Cut carrots and peppers into long strips and attach a slice of almond at the tip using hummus. These vegetable “fingers” are a light and healthy option, perfect for snacking before heading out for treats.
Monster Apples
This snack is easy to prepare and can be customized. Cut an apple into wedges and spread some almond or peanut butter on them. Add banana slices and raspberries to create
“eyes” and “mouths.” You can use sunflower seeds for “teeth.” This treat is high in fiber and antioxidants. Ghost Bananas Peel a banana and cut it in half. Use dark chocolate chips to create eyes and a mouth, transforming the banana into an adorable ghost. This snack is a good source of potassium and perfect for kids.
Page 10
Tangerine Pumpkins Peel tangerines and place a small piece of celery in the center to create the effect of a “pumpkin.” This snack is visually appealing and provides a good dose of vitamin C. Ideal for kids and for packing as a school snack. Family Activities for a Healthy Halloween Halloween also offers a great opportunity to create family memories. Here are some activities that combine fun and exercise, allowing everyone to participate actively: Halloween Treasure Hunt Organize a treasure hunt in the yard or at home. Hide small Halloween-themed “treasures” like mini pumpkins, decorations, and healthy snacks. Kids will have to find each item while following clues and completing challenges. It’s an ideal activity to promote movement and teamwork.
Blend spinach, banana, and almond milk for a smoothie. You can add a touch of honey and some ice cubes. Serve the smoothie in clear glasses and decorate them with eye stickers or draw mouths and noses for a spooky touch. This smoothie is refreshing and packed with vitamins. Witch’s Green Smoothies
Easy Halloween Recipes
Here are a couple of quick and healthy Halloween recipes that will be the highlight of any gathering: Mummy Pizza Use mini pitas or whole grain bread as a base. Add tomato sauce and low-fat cheese in strips, arranged like “mummy wraps.” Place olive slices for eyes and bake until the cheese melts. This pizza is easy to prepare and contains crowd- pleasing ingredients.
Pumpkin Decorating Contest Pumpkin decorating is a Halloween classic. You can organize a contest where each family member decorates their own pumpkin. Instead of using knives, provide paints, stickers, and non-toxic materials so the kids can participate safely. In the end, they can showcase their pumpkins and award the most creative one.
Page 11
Spooky Obstacle Course Create a small obstacle course in the yard or in a large room. Use hula hoops, cones, and ribbons to design the course. Kids can compete in costumes, jumping over “spider webs” (paper ribbons), zig-zagging between “ghosts” (white balloons), and crawling under “skeletons” (low bars). This activity not only provides exercise but also allows kids to release energy and is perfect for an active Halloween.
Spooky Story Trail If you have an outdoor space, like a garden, organize a nighttime walk with flashlights and tell spooky stories while exploring the surroundings. To keep the physical activity going, include stops where kids have to do small exercises, like jumps or squats, before continuing the story. It’s an excellent way to combine exercise, imagination, and Halloween fun. Celebrating Halloween healthily is possible with a bit of creativity and planning. Healthy snacks, like ghost bananas and mummy pizzas, are not only fun and festive but also nutritious. Additionally, family activities like treasure hunts and dance parties encourage exercise and create unforgettable memories. By incorporating healthy food options and encouraging active pursuits, we can enjoy this holiday without compromising well- being. Halloween thus becomes an opportunity to teach children healthy habits and show them that they can enjoy a celebration filled with sweets and fun without sacrificing their health. Enjoy a different kind of Halloween, and celebrate healthily and happily with the whole family!
Costume Dance Party Host a little costume dance party at home. Play fun music and encourage everyone to dance and move. You can hold a dance contest where participants must freeze when the music stops. This game promotes movement and is great for burning off energy in a fun way.

The Founding and Growth of Othership From Backyard Sauna to Urban Oasis:
1. Who are the founders and what in their lives caused them to have the vision of Othership? There are five of us: me, my wife Emily Bent, and our co-founders and best friends Amanda Laine, Harrison Taylor, and Myles Farmer. We started Othership based on a mutual interest in developing healthier communities. My wife Emily introduced me to the practice of saunas and cold plunges at the beginning of my sobriety journey in 2017. We both found these experiences so impactful that we did it across our travels together for four years, even bringing groups along instead of going to a bar for drinks. Amanda and Harry had also traveled and experienced different sauna techniques as well, and Myles had worked in hospitality for years. pandemic has blossomed into Othership, a revolutionary wellness venture. Founded by Emily Bent and her co-founders—Amanda Laine, Harrison Taylor, Myles Farmer, and the author—Othership emerged from a shared desire to enhance emotional well-being and community connection. This article delves into the origins, rapid growth, and future plans of Othership, highlighting how a simple, impactful idea has evolved into a transformative experience. ice bath in Toronto during the W hat started as a backyard sauna and
At the height of the COVID pandemic, the five of us decided to build an ice bath in my backyard in Toronto. Every night, one of us would work and host a guided ice bath with a fire. And every day, you could just come and use it for free. If you knew where it was, you could just let yourself in. There was a neighbourhood Whatsapp group that grew to 300 people. We added a sauna and began to integrate emotional wellness programming and classes. We discovered that the combination of hot and cold immersion acted as a powerful social tool, breaking down barriers and fostering connection. This became the basis for Othership.
Page 14
2. From vision to opening, how many years/months passed and what were some of the biggest challenges in transitioning from vision to opening? It all happened very quickly. We signed a lease during lockdown and the Adelaide location launched February 2022. Initially, people thought we were nuts, but we knew from the garage how strong the experience was. We knew it would be helpful to people struggling with loneliness and stress, and to help people connect with themselves and one another in new ways. So we took the risk. Expansion happened quickly as well, bringing challenges with it. Building out locations— especially in different regulatory environments— has had a steep learning curve, as has designing and training for our classes. Our goal is making sure they stay authentic and inspire emotional transformation..
5. Where else do you plan on opening locations? We're trying to expand in New York specifically at the moment, and then move on to build opening teams and expand across the Northeast (Boston, Washington, Chicago, and Philadelphia are all on our radar) and then larger markets like Texas, Florida, and California. 6. Is franchising part of the growth plan? Not at the moment. Business priorities over the next year include scaling the team, raising more funding to build out a number of new units in New York, and building an opening team to start opening new markets as well. 7. Other than Canada and the United States, are there other countries you are considering? The plan is really to expand aggressively across the US. We believe that this can work in any city where people are struggling and stressed and will be a great option in all urban environments. We want to create community in other urban environments to make people feel less lonely and to give them a new place to connect.
3. What were/are the target demographics targeted? Othership is a space for all: those who thrive in their busy work life and want to take care of their emotional and physical health, those looking for a community for social well-being, fitness enthusiasts who undergo physical stress and are looking for a place to recover, and all human beings that want to feel better. 4. How many locations currently exist? We currently have three: two thriving locations in Toronto, and our recently-opened Ship in Manhattan’s Flatiron District. We’ve broken ground on a second New York location, which will open in Williamsburg in 2025.

Othership Manhattan The Art of Recovery in the Modern Age In the bustling metropolis of New York City, finding a haven of tranquility may seem like an impossible task. However, Othership Manhattan has managed to create a unique space where people can disconnect from external noise and reconnect with their inner well-being. This innovative wellness center combines ice baths, hot saunas, and essential oils to provide an immersive experience that goes beyond physical relaxation. This article explores how Othership is revolutionizing the concept of recovery in the modern age.
The Evolution of Recover
Recovery has evolved significantly in recent years. It's no longer just about resting after a long workday or an intense workout session. Modern recovery involves a holistic approach that encompasses the body, mind, and spirit. Othership Manhattan understands this need and has designed a space that blends traditional wellness techniques with innovative practices to offer a transformative experience. One of Othership's cornerstones is contrast therapy, which involves alternating between ice baths and hot saunas. This technique, used for centuries in various cultures, has proven health benefits. The cold helps reduce inflammation, improve circulation, and stimulate the immune system, while the heat from the sauna promotes detoxification and muscle relaxation. By combining these techniques, Othership enables clients to experience complete and deep recovery. Sensory Experience and Mental Health What truly sets Othership apart is its focus on sensory experience. Each session is designed to immerse clients in an environment of tranquility and peace.
Page 16
Client Testimonials and Impact
In an era where wellness has become a priority, Othership Manhattan has distinguished itself with its comprehensive and personalized approach. Clients ranging from stressed executives to high- performance athletes praise the positive impact of the sessions on their overall well-being. “It’s like a reset for the body and mind,” comments a regular client. Others highlight how the combination of physical and mental techniques has better equipped them to face daily challenges. Othership Manhattan is more than just a wellness center; it is a sanctuary where individuals can disconnect from the external world and reconnect with themselves. Through a combination of physical therapies, healing aromas, and conscious breathing practices, Othership offers a recovery experience that goes beyond the traditional. In a world where stress and anxiety are constant, this innovative approach provides an effective way to restore physical and emotional balance. Ultimately, Othership Manhattan is revolutionizing the way people perceive wellness, offering a complete sensory experience that allows for true reconnection with oneself.
Essential oils play a crucial role in this process, as their aromatic properties help calm the mind and balance emotions. From lavender for relaxation to eucalyptus for mental clarity, each scent is carefully selected to enhance the benefits of the therapy. In addition to physical benefits, Othership also emphasizes mental health. During sessions, clients are guided through conscious breathing exercises that allow them to disconnect from daily stress and focus on the present. Conscious breathing not only helps reduce anxiety but also improves the body's ability to recover and renew itself. At the end of each session, clients feel not only physically revitalized but also emotionally balanced.

Embracing Inner Peace
Latin America and a renowned peace ambassador, reveals in this exclusive interview how inner peace is the cornerstone of genuine global change. In a world fraught with conflict, stress, and inequality, Papá Jaime emphasizes that significant external transformations cannot occur without first addressing and healing our inner selves. apá Jaime Jaramillo, a prominent advocate for street children across P Papá Jaime’s work with street children in Colombia is widely recognized, but his approach goes beyond mere physical rescue. His true mission is to teach individuals to find peace amidst adversity, starting from within. Through meditation and emotional healing programs, he has transformed countless lives, illustrating that true change begins with introspection and inner work. Papá Jaime Jaramillo’s Vision for Global Transformation
Papá Jaime underscores that meditation is a powerful tool for releasing past traumas and connecting with the present moment consciously. “Peace is not the absence of conflict but the ability to manage our emotions to avoid falling into it,” he asserts. According to his experience, most external conflicts arise from unresolved internal discomfort. Thus, working on inner peace is the crucial first step toward achieving external peace.
Page 18
During the interview, Papá Jaime shared some of the most impactful practices he employs in his retreats and meditation sessions. One notable practice is the “Healing Circle,” which allows participants to confront their deepest fears and forgive both others and themselves. “Forgiveness is the key that opens the doors to peace,” he explains. He has witnessed how this practice has helped individuals of all ages and backgrounds liberate themselves from years of emotional suffering. Advances in data storage and cloud computing are essential for housing the vast amounts of information that constitute human consciousness. Developing robust and scalable storage solutions will be key to supporting digital immortality. Moreover, Papá Jaime’s message extends beyond those seeking personal healing to include leaders and influencers. “A leader who has not found their inner peace will project their chaos onto others. That’s why conscious leadership starts from within,” Papá Jaime notes. In a world where leadership is often associated with power and control, his approach offers a refreshing alternative: leadership rooted in love, compassion, and empathy.
World peace is not a mere utopian dream. For Papá Jaime, it is an achievable goal when enough individuals choose to pursue inner peace. Through meditation, forgiveness, and emotional healing, we can start planting the seeds for a more peaceful world—one where people act out of love rather than fear. Papá Jaime’s message is clear: to change the world, we must first heal ourselves.

Omnichannel Experiences: Consumers want to engage with brands across multiple channels. Companies are adopting omnichannel strategies to ensure a seamless experience, enabling customers to transition between channels without losing consistency. Remote Work and Employee Well-Being The remote work trend, popularized during the pandemic, remains relevant. Businesses are adopting hybrid work models and investing in employee well- being to boost productivity and job satisfaction. Hybrid Work Models: Many companies are combining office and remote work days, offering employees greater flexibility and reducing commuting time, enhancing their quality of life. Well-Being and Mental Health: Organizations are recognizing the importance of employee well- being, investing in mental health programs and resources to support their teams holistically. The future of business is marked by innovation and sustainability. Embracing sustainable practices, leveraging advanced technologies, and focusing on customer experience are crucial for competitiveness in the global market.

Key innovations trending in 2025 include: Artificial Intelligence (AI): AI integrates into various business areas, automating repetitive tasks and personalizing customer experiences. It allows for smarter product development and improves competitiveness.
